Manuals & Guides for the JENSEN AM/FM/CD Wallmount Stereo

Troubleshooting Guides

Testing

Our hands on Engineering Research and Development team builds quality into our JENSEN & Voyager products from the beginning by expertly designing each product from the ground up and validating all designs through extensive testing that is primarily conducted in our own on-site test lab. Therefore, JENSEN Audio & Video products and Voyager Camera Systems offer MORE durability and performance than you would expect from standard electronics.

Temperature/Vibration Chamber

Long-Duration product exposure to constant random-frequency operational vibration and non-operational vibration to simulate rugged road conditions. Simultaneous temperature cycle and vibration exposure are also conducted for additional data that is relevant to detecting potential material/component weaknesses and calculating product life-expectancy.

Electrostatic Discharge

The last thing you need is for your radio to quit due to accidental static shock. That’s why our products go through the extensive Electrostatic Discharge Test on all exposed control areas as well as I/O connections so they can withstand the most severe static build up. Shocking, isn’t it?

DC Voltage Overstress

Uses a power supply, applies 18 VDC for 5 minutes. For Heavy Duty products:  Applies 24 VDC for 5 minutes to simulate a vehicle that is jumpstarted.

Reverse Polarity

The Reverse Polarity test uses a car battery to test durability of the product when the (+) and (–) cables are accidentally reversed.

Power Line Noise Rejection

Test throws noise onto the signal and simulates product reaction to alternator whine.

Simulated Crank Start Voltage

Used to test electronics depreciation and altercations when vehicle is turned on.

High/Low Operating Voltage Test

Both tests used to ensure electronics consistency when vehicle battery goes below or above the normal 12V.  Product must remain operational throughout the test.

Shorted I/O

Ensures that product will function when inputs and outputs are connected improperly to the product.

High/Low Operating Temperature

Long-Duration product exposure to operational temperature extremes and rapid temperature cycles that are experienced in outdoor mobile applications. In addition we test for High humidity introduced at high-temp to test effectiveness of circuit corrosion protection (conformal coating).

Pushbutton/Hinge/Mechanism Durability Cycle

Life cycle robotic testing of all buttons and hinge mechanism for durability.

RF Performance Testing

RF performance is central to the user experience for many of our products. The RF Performance test ensures that our products keep clean signals in and the bad signals out, so that users are always left with a steady signal without outside interference. We not only test for high level RF performance during product design, but we also take a random sampling from each production lot and test it to ensure performance consistency. A battery of over 80 performance tests are conducted to analyze and validate RF and audio performance.

  1. I have an older AudioVox Model AWM524 installed in my 1998 Carri-Lite fifth wheel.   Will the Jensen Model AWM910 be a direct or easy replacement in mounting size and coach wiring? I would like to know before ordering.

From Mike at 8/22/10 7:20 PM
The JENSEN AWM910 will be an easy replacement as the cut-out size and main wiring harness are the same.

  2. We have the AWM910 in our RV.  The screen will light up, but there is no sound or no display read out.   The cd function does not work either.   I have pushed the reset button but still have the issue.  Is there anything else I can try to fix this issue?

From Keith at 8/13/10 1:49 AM

If the  AWM910 Jensen AM/FM/CD Wallmount Stereo is indicating that it has power, but is not showing a display and not operating.  Make sure that both power wires are receiving 12 volts and that both fuses are good.  If the voltage is low, or only only one of the power wires has voltage to it, the radio will have the symptoms you have indicated.

  3. I have a AWM910 and need to know where to connect the Red 12v switched wire and the Blue 12v trigger wire.
From Al at 6/5/10 6:55 PM
On the JENSEN AWM910 RV wallmount stereo, the RED wire needs to be connected to +12V DC power (either at same location as YELLOW wire or to a switchable power source, so that the radio can be turned OFF when not in use). The BLUE +12V DC Trigger wire is used to power an amplified antenna or turn ON an external amplifier.
  4. Is there a 120VAC to 12VDC adapter available for this so I can plug it into house current?
From Rob at 5/23/10 9:33 AM
The JENSEN AWM910 wallmount stereo is a +12V DC model only. We do not offer any specific AC/DC converter for this. However, the maximum current draw of the AWM910 is 3A and any suitable power converter rated for at least 3A should work.
  5. I have a Voyager AWM930 wallmount radio / CD player with a blown fuse (inserted into back of the radio). I can't seem to find the right fuse at auto parts/electronic stores. I've also tried a couple of RV parts stores as well. Can I buy them from ASA?
From Curtis at 5/17/10 4:21 AM
These fuses are not available through ASA. However, the fuse for this wallmount radio is a size 5x20mm and can be purchased from DigiKey at www.digikey.com. Their current part number is for this item is: 283-2690-ND.
  6. Is there a remote available for this model?
From Deb at 5/16/10 3:16 PM
Our JENSEN AWM910 wallmount stereo is not a remote-ready radio. If you would like remote capability, I would recommend our AWM970.
  7. Will this replace the AWM960 in my RV?
From David at 5/14/10 6:56 PM
Exchanging your AWM960 JENSEN wallmount stereo with an AWM910 in your RV is an easy upgrade as the wiring harness and the cut-out size are the same. However, please note that the AWM960 is a DVD player and the AWM910 is a CD player. The AWM970 JENSEN wallmount stereo would be the recommended direct replacement for your AWM960.
  8. What amp fuse does this unit take?
From Ross at 5/11/10 8:28 PM
The AWM910 requires two fuses - (1) 7.5 amp blade fuse and (1) 1 amp blade fuse.
  9. Can I connect my TV to the AUX input so I can listen to my TV through my stereo?
From Peg at 4/26/10 8:42 PM
The JENSEN AWM910 wallmount stereo is ideally suited for this.
  10. After winter storage, my Jensen AWM910 RV stereo does not work. The LCD screen lights up, but there is no display and it will not play. Is this a repairable issue?
From jon at 3/16/10 6:05 PM
Upon initial power-up from storage, a reset of the JENSEN AWM910 is sometimes recommended. Please press the reset button located on the front of the stereo, next to the AUD button. See page 6 of the owners manual for further reference. This should correct the issue.
